Fred surpasses Anderson and becomes Brazilian with more games for Manchester United

THE Manchester United lost to Arsenal, by 3 to 2, this Sunday, by the Premier League. Upon entering the game, 26 minutes into the second half, midfielder Fred completed his 152nd appearance for United. Thus, he surpassed Anderson’s previous record and became the Brazilian with the most games for the English club.

Altogether, the team from the city of Manchester had ten players from Brazil in its history. The first was midfielder Kleberson, who arrived at the association in 2003, coming from Athletico-PR.

Currently, Manchester United has four Brazilians in its squad. In addition to Fred, Casemiro, Antony and Alex Telles (on loan to Sevilla) make up the team’s squad.

Since 2018 at United, Fred transferred from Shakhtar Donetsk to the English club for 55 million euros (approximately R$240 million). Since then, he has scored ten goals and dished out 17 assists.

After losing to Arsenal, Erik ten Hag’s men face Notingham Forest, for the first game of the semifinal of the English League Cup, this Wednesday, at 5 pm (Brasília time), at the City Ground Stadium. In the current season, despite not being an absolute starter, Fred participated in 24 games and scored two goals.
