On this Sunday, the Arsenal won the Manchester United, 3-2, and remained firmly at the top of the Premier League. Now, the team has five points of difference for the second place, City. That advantage could grow, as Londoners have a game less than their rivals in contention. Still, Spanish coach Mikel Arteta remains considering Guardiola’s charges as the team to beat.
“I know my team very well. I know where we are, I know why we are here and I know where we want to be and we are far from it. I know the level of the other teams and one in particular that has won in the last five or six years (Manchester City). We’re not there yet,” said the coach at a post-match press conference.
Despite having praised Manchester City, Arteta also said that Arsenal gained confidence after the positive sequence, but also asked that the good moment not go to the heads of the players.
“I hope they believe (that they can win), not that they are already champions. They are good enough to play against these teams and they did,” began the Spanish captain.
“We talked about it in the last two or three days. We know our reality, we know how much we have to improve. We know what brought us to the position we are today and we have to reinforce that every day”, he concluded.
