Before the meeting Iran – Poland it was known that the white-and-reds had no chance of advancing to the quarter-finals of the World Cup. Patryk Rombel’s players have lost three out of five matches so far and with the score of two points they were fourth in the group of the first phase of the main phase. After Slovenia’s victory over Montenegro, Poles were sure that even if they won against Iran, they would not be able to advance to a higher position. So they struggled to stay in fourth position and finish the tournament in style.
