Around Haller, Borussia Dortmund beats Augsburg 4-3 in the Bundesliga

on the return of German Championship, Borussia Dortmund hosted Augsburg this Sunday and won 4-3 this Sunday at Signal Iduna Park. The goals for the Auri-Negros were scored by Bellingham, Schlotterback, Byone-Gittens and Reyna. Maier, Demirovic and Colina scored for the visitors.

The match was marked by the official return of striker Sebastien Haller to the football fields. The Ivorian was diagnosed with a testicular tumor and was sidelined for six months due to treatment. It was the 28-year-old’s debut for the German team, who came on in the second half and played for about 30 minutes.

With the result, Borussia Dortmund jumped to sixth place in the Bundesliga. Coach Edin Terzic’s team will face Mainz, next Wednesday (25), for Alemão. Augsburg, on the other hand, remained in 15th position and will face Borussia Monchengladbach on the same day.

The game

The first half of the match was very eventful. In the 29th minute, Jude Bellingham received the ball on the edge of the area and fired hard into the corner to open the scoring for Dortmund.

Augsburg’s draw was not long in coming. With 39 minutes played, Maier took advantage of Dortmund’s failure in the ball, made an individual move and finished in the corner of goalkeeper Kobel, to tie the confrontation.

The home team reacted two minutes later. On a tackled ball, Brandt lifted the ball in the area and Schlotterback headed it into the back of the net.

Even at 2-1, Augsburg reacted in the first half. Already in the additions, Demirovic dug in Kobel’s exit and returned to tie the match. The ball still touched the lateral Ryerson before entering.

In the 60th minute of the second half, Haller came on for Moukoko and made his debut for the Auri-Negros. The number 9 shirt had only played in friendlies since arriving in July 2022.

Dortmund took the lead again in the 74th minute, with Byone-Gittens. The English jewel cut through the opposing defense and kicked from outside the area, with no chances for goalkeeper Gikiewicz.

However, in the very next move, Colina took advantage of Yeboah’s crossbar submission and tied the match once more. It was the Croatian left-back’s debut for his new team.

This time, Dortmund didn’t take long to react either. In the 78th minute, Reyna took advantage of the launch and crashed over Gikiewicz, closing the match at 4-3.
