Iran’s Sports Minister Hamid Sajadi has ordered an investigation into allegations of sexual assaults committed against several teenagers at a football school in the northeast of the country, state media reported on Saturday.
“A former press representative for the Shahr Jodro football team has claimed on social media that the parents of 15 players from this club and its academy have filed a complaint against the club and its coaches for sexually assaulting their children,” the agency reported. public news IRNA.
Shahr Jodro’s football club is based in the sanctuary city of Mashhad, the second largest in Iran.
“Two weeks ago, Sports Minister Hamid Sajadi ordered an investigation into allegations of assaults on football players at a youth academy in Mashhad,” the agency added.
Sajadi called for a “firm response” against those responsible, he added.
