The Volleyball Federation of Ukraine (VVU) has banned team player Timofey Poluyan from playing in the Turkish Hekimoglu together with Russian Alexei Nalobin. The club announced this in Twitter.
“They are [ФВУ] offered to terminate the contract with the Russian player, promising to send another Ukrainian instead, ”the team said in a statement. Hekimoglu noted that they would not make such signings, as they contradict the spirit of the sport.

25-year-old Poluyan signed a contract with the Turkish club on January 14. After that, the federation demanded that he break the agreement with the team, announcing that otherwise the player would be banned from playing for the national team. The next day, the volleyball player left the Hekimoglu location.
33-year-old Nalobin has been playing for the Turkish team since the 2022/2023 season. The athlete is also known for his performances for the Krasnodar Dynamo and the German Friedrichshafen, with whom he won the German championship in 2016.
On March 1, the International Volleyball Federation suspended all Russian and Belarusian national teams and clubs from international competitions. On the same day, the organization deprived Russia of the right to host the 2022 Volleyball World Cup.
