Gilberto says goodbye to Al Wasl and is announced at Cruzeiro

Striker Gilberto said goodbye to Al Wasl this Friday and soon afterwards was announced at Cruzeiro until the end of 2024. The player, who had a bond with the Arab club until June of this year, could already sign any pre-contract, but Fox managed to quickly release the athlete.

“To the fans, employees, athletes and managers of Al Wasl SC Today I end my time at this great club. And I could never say goodbye without first thanking all the affection that my family and I received in this country and especially from my fans. We fought, cheered, won and lost together, always looking for the best for Al Wasl”, wrote Gilberto.

“Be assured that this passage will be forever marked in my career, in my memory, and in my heart. Thank you very much!”, ended the farewell.

Gilberto accumulates passages through Internacional, Vasco and São Paulo. He was defending Al Wasl since last year, when he was sold by Bahia after not renewing his contract with the club. For Tricolor de Aço, he accumulated 189 games and 86 goals in four seasons. The striker is still the top scorer at Arena Fonte Nova.

In the 2022/23 season, the athlete participated in 12 matches, scoring six times and serving his teammates on three occasions.

Gilberto arrives at Cruzeiro as the team’s 14th signing for 2023. The club’s debut in the season will be this Saturday against Patrocinense, for the Mineiro Championship, at 7 pm (Brasília time), at the Pedro Alves do Nascimento Stadium, in Minas Gerais.
