Russian hockey player “Philadelphia” Provorov refused to participate in the action in support of LGBT
The Russian defender of the Philadelphia Flyers club of the National Hockey League (NHL) Ivan Provorov refused to participate in the action in support of the LGBT community. His words are quoted by journalist Dan Gelston in Twitter.
The hockey player refused to go out before the match with the Anaheim Ducks because of the use of uniforms with LGBT symbols on it. “I respect everyone. I respect everyone’s choice. My choice is to remain true to myself and my religion, ”the athlete explained and added that his religion is Russian Orthodoxy.
The meeting ended with a score of 5:2 in favor of Philadelphia. 26-year-old Provorov took part in the game, but did not score with effective actions.
Provorov has been playing for Philadelphia since 2016. In total, he played 495 matches with the team and scored 61 goals.
