Xavi praises Lewandowski’s professionalism after scoring twice in Barcelona thrashing

Barcelona thrashed Ceuta, from the Spanish second division, by 5 to 0 this Thursday for the round of 16 of the Copa del Rey. The team’s top scorer in the season, striker Robert Lewandowski scored two goals. After the match, coach Xavi praised the Pole.

“Today Robert [Lewandowski] showed that he is a tremendous professional. With the same attitude as the day of the final [da Supercopa da Espanha, diante do rival Real Madrid]. Perfect. Perfect for him because he’s been getting minutes,” she said.

As well as making his debut in the competition, the 34-year-old striker is returning to action after missing two games. Before this afternoon’s confrontation, Lewandowski participated in every minute of the Barcelona winning the Spanish Super Cup, when he beat Betis on penalties and beat Real Madrid 3-1 in the final. The player scored a goal in both matches.

Another highlight of this Thursday’s duel was the Brazilian Raphinha, who also scored. In addition to him, Ansu Fati and Kessié completed the rout, which guaranteed the Catalan club in the next phase of the competition.

For the quarterfinals, therefore, Barcelona is still waiting for the draw of its opponent – they could be: Sevilla, Real Sociedad, Valencia, Athletic Bilbao, Osasuna, Atlético de Madrid and Real Madrid. Before then, he turns his attention to the Spanish Championship, in which he leads in isolation.
