Coach Roslyakov said that no decision was made on Kostornaya’s transition to pair skating
Coach Sergei Roslyakov told the details of the transition of Russian figure skater Alena Kostornaya to pair skating. His words are quoted by TASS.
The specialist said that he was preparing the 19-year-old athlete, along with Georgy Kunitsa, to participate in the show. “We have not yet discussed further plans. They skated a series of winter shows, and now they flew away to rest. We’ll come back and we’ll talk,” he said. In a commentary to Sport-Express, the coach added that the final decision on the transition has not yet been made.
Earlier, on January 16, coach Elena Buyanova announced the termination of work with Kostornaya because of the athlete’s desire to switch to pair skating. She noted that the figure skater, who during her performance on the show tried to do paired elements with Kunitsa, is now training with Roslyakov.
In July 2020, Kostornaya left the Eteri Tutberidze group and began training under the guidance of Evgeni Plushenko. In March 2021, the athlete returned to Sambo-70, and a year later she moved to CSKA to Buyanova. On account of Kostornaya, the gold of the European Championship 2020 and the Grand Prix final.
