Teammates of Washington Capitals captain Alexander Ovechkin Garnet Hathaway and Sonny Milano spoke about the unusual ritual of the Russian before matches. Their words are quoted by Washington Hockey Now.

After that, the players shake hands.

Hathaway notes that this supports the team spirit. “I just nod and smile. I don’t quite understand what he’s saying, but whatever it is, it works,” adds Milano.

Ovechkin is the second-best scorer in the National Hockey League (NHL). On account of the Russian 809 goals abandoned in his career. The leader of the ranking is Canadian Wayne Gretzky with 894 goals.
