Hasek explained the call to stop showing the NHL in the Czech Republic because of the Russians with the importance of human life
Olympic champion, two-time Stanley Cup winner Dominik Hasek Twitter explained the call to stop showing matches of the National Hockey League (NHL) in the Czech Republic due to the participation of Russian players in them.
The former athlete said that for him human life will always be more important than the most beautiful game in the world, so he would not like to see Russia’s advertisement at the moment. At the same time, he stressed that he would continue to stand up for Russian athletes and plans to help them.
In October 2022, Hasek called for NHL executives to resign over their stance on Russia. He said that league commissioner Gary Bettman and his deputy Bill Daley showed disrespect to the Czech Foreign Ministry by allowing Russian players to play in Prague for NHL pre-season games.
In March, the NHL suspended contacts with representatives of the Continental Hockey League (KHL). The League demanded that the clubs stop direct and indirect contacts with representatives of the KHL teams. Now NHL teams will not be able to easily sign free agents from the KHL.
