Director of the School of Olympic reserve in artistic gymnastics Larisa Latynina Olga Korkich revealed the details of the condition of the former athlete. Her words are quoted by RIA Novosti.

“I don’t know anything about a heart attack. She had a microstroke, she was admitted to the clinic for an additional examination, ”Korkich said. She added that the former athlete is generally doing well.

Earlier Thursday, January 12, head coach of the Russian national gymnastics team Valentina Rodionenko announced that Latynina had suffered a heart attack. Rodionenko added that Latynina’s condition is stable, not serious, but noted that doctors do not say anything good about her health.

On December 30 last year, 88-year-old Latynina announced her hospitalization. “I’m in the hospital right now. Something happened to me, but I feel good, ”she said.

Latynina is the most titled gymnast in the history of the Olympic Games, as well as the leader in the number of victories at the Olympic Games among domestic athletes. She has won 18 medals, nine of which are gold.
