Messi, Mbappe and Benzema up for FIFA Player of the Year 2022
The International Football Federation (FIFA) has named the contenders for the title of the best player in 2022. The list is available on the organization’s website.
Nominees include Argentina’s Lionel Messi and Julian Alvarez, France’s Karim Benzema and Kylian Mbappe, Brazil’s Neymar and Vinicius Junior, Croat Luka Modric, Poland’s Robert Lewandowski, Belgium’s Kevin De Bruyne, Norway’s Erling Haaland of England’s Jude Bellingham, Moroccan Ashraf Hakimi , Sadio Mane, who plays for the Senegal team, as well as the Egyptian Mohamed Salah.
Voting will last until February 3, after which FIFA will announce the names of the three finalists in the fight for the award.
At the end of November, the winner of the Ballon d’Or, which is awarded by France Football, was named. Benzema received the award.
In 2021, Messi, Salah and Lewandowski were among the top three contenders for the award of the best player of the year. As a result of voting, the award was presented to the Polish striker.
