Mash: before getting into intensive care, figure skater Roman Kostomarov was treated by dipping into an ice hole

New details of Russian figure skater Roman Kostomarov’s getting into intensive care have become known. This is reported by the Telegram channel Mash.

According to the source, the 45-year-old athlete fell ill a week after being hospitalized. It is noted that he continued to perform in the show, despite the high temperature. It is also reported that instead of turning to specialists, Kostomarov was treated by dipping into an ice hole.

On January 11, it was reported that the figure skater, who had been hospitalized the day before, was in an extremely serious condition under medical sedation in the intensive care unit for cardiac patients of the Kommunarka medical center. He was diagnosed with left-sided pneumonia in combination with influenza B. The athlete is connected to an artificial lung ventilation (ALV) device, as well as to an apparatus for saturating the blood with oxygen.

Kostomarov performed in ice dancing and achieved major success in tandem with Tatyana Navka. In 2006, the duo won the gold of the Olympic Games in Turin. In addition, the couple won the World Championship twice, the European Championship three times and the final of the Grand Prix series of the International Skating Union. In 2006, the athletes completed their careers.
