The Russian national swimming team was deprived of silver medals in the mixed rabbit relay four by 50 meters at the European Championships in Kazan. This was reported by Match TV.
Russians Vladimir Morozov, Kliment Kolesnikov, Arina Surkova, Maria Kameneva covered the distance in 1 minute 29.40 seconds and shared the second place with the national team of Italy. They had already received silver medals, but were then disqualified due to the protest of the Polish national team.
President of the All-Russian Swimming Federation Vladimir Salnikov said that the reason was the violation of the declared order of placement for the relay. “A common technical unfortunate mistake that happens in athletes’ parks,” said the team’s coach Sergei Chepik.
The winners were the representatives of the Netherlands, who showed a time of 1 minute 28.93 seconds. Athletes from Poland moved up to third place.
The European Swimming Championships will end on 7 November.
