The specialist noted that these sports should not be compared, and explained why figure skating is more popular than football. “They are [футболисты] all screwed up. The difference is obvious, ”said Tarasova.
In September, Olympic speed skating champion and State Duma deputy Svetlana Zhurova shared her opinion that figure skating will never be as popular as football. “Figure skating is on the rise because of the talented skaters and the various ice shows. There will be no competition – there will be no popularity, ”she said.
Earlier, three-time Olympic figure skating champion Irina Rodnina refused to consider football the number one sport in Russia. “The popularity of football in the country is exaggerated. Every major start, we are convinced that our players are nothing of themselves, ”she said.
