L’Equipe: Macron frustrated by criticism of coach Zidane by the French Football Federation
French President Emmanuel Macron reacted to the criticism of coach Zinedine Zidane by the President of the French Football Federation (FFF), Noel Le Grae. It is reported by L’Equipe.
“The President of the Republic, like all French people, is very disappointed and offended that such statements were made against the legend of French and world sports,” said French Sports Minister Amélie Oudéa-Castera. She added that the president liked Zidane’s support from PSG striker Kylian Mbappe.
FFF on January 7 extended the contract with head coach Didier Deschamps. After that, Le Grais, in an interview with Reuters, said that he would not pick up the phone if Zidane decided to contact him about a possible job in the national team.
Zidane’s last job was as head coach of Real Madrid, which he left in 2021. The specialist led the club to victory in the Champions League three times. As a player, Zidane became the world and European champion as part of the French national team.
