CAS published the reasoning of the decision on the appeal of the RFU to the removal of Russia
The Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) in Lausanne has published the reasoning of the decision to reject the appeal of the Russian Football Union (RFU) to remove Russian teams from international competitions. This was reported on the website of the court.
The CAS said that the decision to remove the Russian national team and domestic clubs was reasonable. It is noted that it was caused by the goals of ensuring the safety of competitions held under the auspices of the International Football Federation (FIFA) and the Union of European Football Associations (UEFA).
Appeals by RPL clubs to be suspended from European competition were rejected in July 2022. Zenit, Sochi, Dynamo and CSKA tried to challenge the non-admission to European tournaments.
Russian football has faced isolation due to the decisions of FIFA and UEFA. The Russian national team has lost the chance to participate in the 2022 World Cup in Qatar, and the clubs do not have the opportunity to play in European competition.
