UFC heavyweight champion Francis Ngannou hints at PFL move
Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) heavyweight champion Francis Ngannou has hinted at leaving the promotion. His post is available on Instagram (the social network is banned in the Russian Federation; belongs to the Meta corporation, which is recognized as extremist in Russia and banned).
Ngannou published photos from the celebration of the New Year. Let’s start the best year ever! Happy 2023 to all of you,” he captioned the shots, several of which show a woman wearing a Professional Fighting League (PFL) T-shirt.
Ngannou has previously complained about financial conditions at the UFC. He noted that the current contract with the organization does not quite suit him. “It’s not just about money. They matter, but there are clauses in the contract with which I do not agree, ”said the athlete.
The heavyweight won the championship belt against American Stipe Miocic in March 2021. In January 2022, he defended his title for the first time, defeating Frenchman Cyril Gan, after which he did not enter the octagon due to knee surgery. His current contract with the UFC is for one more fight. In total, he spent 20 fights in his career, 17 of which he won.
