Manchester United imposes £200,000 cap on players’ weekly wages
Manchester United have introduced a cap on the weekly salary of their players. It is reported by the Daily Mail.
Now players will not be able to earn more than 200 thousand pounds in seven days. The innovation began to be called the “Ronaldo rule” in honor of the former Portuguese player of the Mancunians, Cristiano Ronaldo, who received 450 thousand a week.
Goalkeeper David de Gea will be the first to suffer from the innovation. In the summer, his contract with a salary of 375 thousand a week will expire, and he will be offered a new agreement that will fit into the limit.
On November 22, Manchester United, for which Ronaldo has played since 2021, announced the termination of the contract with the Portuguese by mutual agreement of the parties. Before that, the striker accused the club of betrayal and said that he did not respect head coach Eric ten Hag.
