Two-time Italian football champion Gianluca Vialli dies at 58 from cancer

Two-time Italian football champion Gianluca Vialli has died at the age of 58. It is reported by La Gazzetta dello Sport.

Vialli died of pancreatic cancer. He battled cancer for five years and was forced to step down as Italy’s assistant coach due to his condition deteriorating in December 2022.

Vialli is a two-time Italian champion with Sampdoria and Juventus. Together with the Turints, the football player became the winner of the Champions League and the UEFA Cup. As part of the Italian national team, the Italian won bronze medals at the 1990 World Cup.

After the end of his career as a football player, Vialli became a coach. He worked with the English Chelsea and Watford. Together with the Londoners, he became the owner of the FA Cup, the Cup Winners’ Cup and the UEFA Super Cup. From 2019 to 2022, the specialist was part of the coaching staff of the Italian national team.
