The moment of truth is near for Marlon Chito Vera and Frankie Edgar above the UFC (Ultimate Fighting Championship) cage at MSG Madison Square Garden in New York, this Saturday night at UFC 268.

Vera and Edgar shared the stage for the first Friday at the ceremonial weigh-in – which took place at MSG’s Hulu Theater – where the Ecuadorian was booed by the hundreds of fans who came to harangue the New Jersey man.

Chito He entered displaying the Ecuadorian flag and raised his right hand making a gesture of not listening to the shouts and boos of the public.

He greeted commentator Joe Rogan and stepped on the scale to proudly display the tricolor. He then shook hands with UFC boss Dana White and handed the flag to his coach Jason Parillo.

Although in hostile terrain, Vera dared to challenge the 40-year-old veteran by standing at the side of the platform waiting for him to enter the platform. At the end of the confrontation they ended up shaking hands with the bantamweight.

Vera’s fight against Edgar is part of the main card of UFC 268 and will be the prelude to the confrontations between the welterweight champion, Kamaru Usman, and the former interim champion Colby Covington, who collide in the rematch of the main event; and the match between female strawweight champion Rose Namajunas and former champion Zhang Weili, who also meet in a revenge for the co-feature event.

Vera (19-7-1 MMA, 11-6 UFC) will be in the blue corner and Edgar (24-9-1 MMA, 18-9-1 UFC) in the red corner.
