Russian Khabib Nurmagomedov was named the best trainer of 2022 according to MMA Junkie
Former Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) champion Khabib Nurmagomedov and Mexican Javier Mendez have been named the best mixed martial arts (MMA) coaches of 2022. This is reported by the portal MMA Junkie.
The portal noted the contribution of Nurmagomedov and Mendez to the training of top-level fighters. Separately, the successes of UFC lightweight champion Islam Makhachev, as well as Khabib Nurmagomedov’s cousins Usman and Umar and American Belal Muhammad, who won two UFC victories in 2022, were highlighted.
Previously, Mendes spoke about Nurmagomedov as a coach. Khabib is following in his father’s footsteps [Абдулманапа Нурмагомедова]. In my opinion, he is on his way to being the greatest coach of all time,” he said.
Nurmagomedov is a former UFC lightweight champion. He defended the title three times, after which he retired. The athlete, who trained under the guidance of his father and Mendez, won 29 victories in 29 professional MMA fights. The Russian held his last fight in October 2020, being stronger than the American Justin Gaethje.
