Football players detained in Iran for New Year’s party with women. It is reported by RMC Sport.
According to the source, the players, as well as former players from one of the Tehran clubs, were arrested at a mixed party in the city of Damavend. It is noted that some athletes were in an inadequate state after drinking alcohol.
According to Iranian law, the consumption and sale of alcohol is prohibited. In addition, women are forbidden to wear revealing or tight outfits: arms and legs must be completely covered, and a headscarf must be worn on the head. Men should wear long trousers and shirts above the elbow.
Since mid-September last year, protests and riots have been taking place in Iran. They are caused by the death of Mahsa Amini, who died after she was detained by the police for wearing the hijab incorrectly. The protesters were supported by many Iranian public figures.
