After four years without holding the second most important soccer event in South America, on a team scale, this time the South American Sub 20 comes to Colombia, a country that agreed to organize it two years ago.
The competition was scheduled to be held at the beginning of 2021, but due to the onslaught of the Covid 19 pandemic, it was prevented from taking place, after the one that took place in Ecuador in 2019.
In that last edition, Ecuador was crowned champion, beating Venezuela 3-0 in the match that ended the hexagonal. With this he wrote the most important page in the history of this category and gave way to a generation that continues to bear fruit.
La Tri continues to prepare at the home of the team, Quito, with the aim of emulating the performance of the previous group.
His main objectives is to qualify for the final hexagonal in which he will seek to enter the Indonesia 2023 World Cup, as well as the Santiago 2023 Pan American Games and defend the title.
Who are Ecuador’s rivals in the South American Sub 20?
Ecuador was in Group B together with Uruguay, Venezuela, Bolivia and Chile, a key in which it must be among the first three that will take it to the final hexagonal.
La Tri will debut on January 20 against Chile at 7:30 p.m. at the Deportivo Cali stadium, a venue that is in the base city where all the matches of key B will be played.
Then, the team will complete its schedule with matches every two days (January 22, 26 and 28) against Bolivia, Venezuela and Uruguay respectively. It will also have a rest date on January 24, the day on which only four rivals will play.
