At the opening of the 12th round of the Italian Championship, Empoli and Genoa drew 2-2 this Friday, at the Carlo Castellani stadium.
Even away from home, Genoa took the lead with Domenico Criscito, in a penalty kick converted 12 minutes into the first half. In the second stage, Federico Di Francesco and Szymon Zurkpwski turned to Empoli, but Flavio Bianchi scored in the final minutes and declared a draw.
With the result, Empoli remains in eighth place in the Italian Championship, with 16 points. Genoa is still in 15th place, with nine points, and close to the relegation zone.
The two teams only return to the field after the FIFA date in November. Genoa host Roma, at the Luigi Ferraris Stadium, on the 21st, while Empoli visit Hellas Verona, at the Marc’Antonio Bentegodi stadium, on the 22nd.
