Lointek Gernika Bizkaia was eliminated from the Eurocup this Wednesday, January 11, after lose 68-57 against Enea Gorzow in the second leg
of the round of 32.
In the first leg, the Gernika-Lumo team beat the Polish team by one point (79-78) in Maloste, but the income was not enough, since he fell by 11 points in the second leg.
Both teams had a hard time scoring at the start of the match, although after one minute and 18 seconds a triple by Ygueravide ended the drought and gave Lointek Gernika the first three points (0-3). Later, the Polish team tied the match (5-5), but almost immediately the Basque team opened the gap on the scoreboard again (5-10). It didn’t take long for Gorzow to close the gap and tie (11-11) through two consecutive triples. From that moment on, equality prevailed (13-13 and 15-15), and in the end, the locals finished the first ten minutes with a two-point lead. (17-15).
At the start of the second quarter, Enea Gorzow increased their lead to seven points (22-15). It was difficult for Lointek Gernika Bizkaia to react, but they did, and came within two points (22-20). However, the locals once again imposed their game, they increased their advantage and reached the break with a favorable result of 34-26.
The rest did not sit well with the Basques. The locals were much superior at the beginning of the third quarter. Little by little, Enea Gorzow increased her advantage (50-37). The clash was uphill for a Lointek Gernika Bizkaia who was unable to close the gap (52-41).
Although the clash was very difficult for Lointek Gernika, Ana Montañana’s team went all out in the last quarter, and with a good start they got back into the game (53-50). The Biscayan team was filled with hope, but the joy did not last long. Enea Gorzow did not get nervous, despite the good moment of his rival. The Poles returned to take over the party; they prevailed in the rebounds, also in defense and attack, thus leaving the match seen for judgment with a favorable 60-50, with less than two minutes to go before the conclusion of the match. In the end, the Enea Gorzow won the match (68-57)and qualified for the round of 16.
