The Ecuadorian junior Tania Andrade traveled to Melbourne today to join the ITF (International Tennis Federation) youth team, which is made up of players from Bulgaria, Argentina, Croatia, Taipei, Australia, Poland, Brazil, and will play the Australian Junior Open.
In recent days, the best youth tennis player in our country was confirmed by the ITF as a member of this team that brings together the best players from developing countries, which are financed through the Grand Slam Player Development Program.
Today, her parents Francisco, Tania, and her brothers Michel and Nicolás, went to say goodbye to the talented athlete from Santo Domingo de los Tsáchilas at the José Joaquín de Olmedo International Airport. The tennis player plans to make a stopover in Chile and then leave for Australia, where she will arrive on Monday, January 9.
The Development Director of the Ecuadorian Tennis Federation (FET), Econ. Othmar Moyano was present at the tennis player’s departure and highlighted Tania’s good year in 2022, with good results in international tournaments on the ITF World Tennis Tour.
“The Ecuadorian Tennis Federation is proud that Tania can represent us in such an important event worldwide… for this trip the FET has supported her and also since last year through the Junior Davis Cup and Billie Jean King Cup Program , which as a Federation we promote, in which dozens of young tennis players also benefit”, said the director of Development of the FET.
Tania Andrade, 17 years old, ranked 67th in the ITF Junior ranking, has twice been a member of the Ecuadorian women’s team that plays in the Billie Jean King Cup (formerly Fed Cup).
The activities that will be carried out with the ITF team are: From January 9 to 12 they will be in a training camp in the city of Traralgon. From January 13 to 18, they will compete in the Traralgon J300; and, from January 21-28, at the J500 Australian Open Junior Championship. (D)
