G1: Pele’s cause of death was multiple organ failure due to advanced cancer

The cause of death of the three-time world football champion Pele was the failure of the internal organs. This is reported by G1 with reference to the official bulletin of the Albert Einstein Clinic in Sao Paulo, where the ex-athlete was located.

“The Albert Einstein Clinic bitterly confirms the news of the death of Pele, recorded on December 29 at 15:27 (21:27 Moscow time – approx. “Tapes.ru”) due to multiple organ failure in the context of advanced cancer and clinical condition,” the statement said.

The death of Pele became known earlier on December 29. This was reported by his daughter Keli Nascimentu.

On November 30, it was reported that Pele, who had previously undergone surgery to remove a tumor in his colon, was admitted to the hospital with a general swelling of the body. The Brazilian was diagnosed with heart failure and marked confusion.

Pelé is a three-time World Cup Champion with Brazil. In 1999, the International Olympic Committee recognized the Brazilian as the athlete of the century.
