Changes are coming at Real Madrid. Ancelotti has found a successor to Kroos. 80 million euros on the table

Toni Kroos joined from Bayern Munich in 2014 for €25 million. Since then, the German has made 352 appearances at the Santiago Bernabeu, scoring 25 goals and providing 83 assists. In those eight years, he was definitely one of the key elements of the team that won the Champions League trophy three times in a row.

Recently, however, he has lowered his flights and no longer gives the team what it has so far. In addition, he is already 32 years old, so he is slowly approaching the end of his career. As such, Real Madrid are preparing to replace him with a younger player. The German’s contract at the Santiago Bernabeu expires in June 2023 and there is no indication that it will be extended.

According to the Catalan portal El Nacional, the favorite to replace him is Nicolo Barella from Inter Milan. A great enthusiast of this idea is himself, who is trying to persuade the club’s authorities to transfer this player. The Italian representative would significantly reduce the rather high average age of the midfield of the Spanish runners-up and bring a lot of freshness.

However, the transfer will probably involve a huge expense. Transfermarkt currently values the Italian at €70m, but with his contract with Inter running until June 2026, that figure could rise significantly to €80m. Catalan journalists suspect that if this deal is successful, Toni Kroos will not wait until the end of his contract and will say goodbye to Madrid in the summer.

Nicolo Barella is one of the most important players of both the Italian national team, with which he triumphed at the last European Championships. The 25-year-old has been playing for Milan since September 2020 and has made 124 appearances so far, scoring nine goals and providing 31 assists.
