The 2022 season was extremely successful for Iga Świątek. The Polish woman became the clear leader of the WTA world ranking and won two Grand Slam tournaments, which was by far the best result in the history of Polish tennis. So it was not a big surprise that the first rocket of the globe won the title of athlete of the year, although she personally could not accept the award.
Scrambled eggs for breakfast
One of the traditions of the Sports Champions Ball, which takes place right after the gala, is the morning scrambled eggs that the participants receive for breakfast. For athletes absent from the all-night party, the consumption of such a tasty meal is impossible for obvious reasons.
On Sunday morning, Iga Świątek herself decided to make a joke about it. The Polish tennis player, preparing for the Australian Open, spends today regenerating, resting on one of the beautiful beaches. Unfortunately, however, the first rocket in the world, being at the other end of the globe, did not have the opportunity to take advantage of the benefits of the hotel where the gala was held.
The views may be beautiful, but I didn’t catch scrambled eggs here. I hope you had a great time at the gala. Thank you very much for your support and recognition. Huge congratulations to all the nominees and winners
– wrote the Polish tennis player.
Now, before Christmas, a week of intensive preparations for the first Grand Slam tournament of the season, in which she managed to reach the semi-finals a year ago. The Australian Open kicks off on January 16, with nearly A$3 million at stake.
