Antony scores as Manchester United beat Everton to advance to FA Cup

This Friday, the Manchester United beat Everton, for the third round of the FA Cup, by 3 to 1. Thus, Erik ten Hag’s men advanced to the next phase of the competition.

Now, United face Charlton, as principal, for the quarter-finals of the English League Cup. The game will take place this Tuesday, at 5 pm (Brasília time), at the Old Trafford stadium. For the 20th round of the English Championship, the team faces Manchester City, at 9:30 am, at home. At the moment, the team is in the qualification zone for the next Champions League.

In the next round of the Premier League, Everton will face Southampton, on the 14th. The ball will roll at 12h, at Goodison Park stadium.

The game

At three minutes, Manchester United opened the scoring. The Brazilian Antony received a pass from Marcus Rashford and completed it for the bottom of the goal. In the sequence, the number 10 almost extended the advantage for the team. Not long after, Everton had the opportunity to equalize, but De Gea practiced good defence.

Still at the beginning of the first stage, Conor Coady, after the failure of the Spanish goalkeeper, tied the match for the team from the city of Liverpool. Rashford fouled Anthony Martial, who finished for Pickford’s defense.

In the 31st minute, Manchester United’s number 10 took a risk from outside the area and forced the Everton goalkeeper to practice a complicated defense. In the sequence, Ericksen almost scored a great goal, but the ball went over the goal.

Early in the second half, Rashford played in the box and Coady scored an own goal. A short time later, winger Coleman finished and De Gea prevented Frank Lampard’s charges from tying the match.

At 20 minutes of the second stage, Bruno Fernandes finished for Pickford’s good defense. Everton even drew with Calvert-Lewin, but, with the help of VAR, the judge signaled offside. Late in the match, United killed the clash, with Rashford scoring from the penalty spot.
