Vasco announced this Friday the sale of Andrey Santos. The club agreed with Chelsea and confirmed the permanent transfer of the 18-year-old midfielder.
According to the Rio press, the negotiation revolves around 12.5 million euros (R$ 68.8 million at current quotations), for a five-year contract.
Andrey Santos, created from the base of Vasco, says goodbye to the team with 38 matches and eight goals.
The young defensive midfielder had been in São Januário since 2011, when he started his career in futsal and became a highlight of his generation. The athlete, throughout his career, accumulated calls for all youth categories of the Brazilian National Team.
Last year, Andrey debuted in the Campeonato Carioca and became the youngest player to play for Vasco in the century, surpassing names like Talles Magno, Paulinho and Philippe Coutinho.

Just this Friday, Andrey Santos published a farewell video for Vasco. In it, while the player plays and moments with the Cruzmaltina shirt, the young defensive midfielder thanks the fans, employees and Vasco teammates for the 12 years he was a player for the club in Rio de Janeiro.
“It’s difficult to start this text without getting emotional, without remembering everything I’ve been through here at Vasco over all these years. A movie plays in my head, but with a feeling of gratitude and mission accomplished. I’d like to start by thanking God first and, from my heart, to all the employees, teammates and people who passed through the club, who made me a better athlete and human being during these 12 years”, he said.
“I started at this club when I was very young, with only six years old, I was a child with many dreams. Since I was young, I always knew the responsibility it was to represent Vasco and, thank God, I completed many goals, with the help of family members and all my friends. professionals, who supported me, helped me and made me evolve”, he continued.
“I would like to express my immense affection to the Vasco fans, for always supporting me and believing in me, impossible to forget every party in the crowded cauldron, the moments of São Januário pulsating and every time you shouted my name, it will be forever marked in my memory and in my heart.
