The Lumenia Racing Team presented on Thursday the vehicle that will be driven by Brad Salazar from Guayaquil next January at the rally Dakar.
Together with Salazar, the other Ecuadorian pilot for the 2023 edition of the rally The most difficult in the world will be Sebastián Guayasamín from Quito.
Salazar (36 years old) will participate in the T3 light prototype category. The staff of communication of the Rally and Cross Country racer in the UTV category side by side Turbo/ off road, for more than five years, ensures that Salazar after the formal announcement of his participation becomes the only tricolor pilot to compete in this category.

Salazar and Arrieta’s journey to reach the Middle East begins on Sunday, December 25, from Guayaquil. Its arrival in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, is scheduled for Tuesday the 27th. The competition will start on Sunday, January 1 and will end on Sunday, January 15.
The tour of rally Dakar 2023 will go from the beaches of the Red Sea to the shores of the Persian Gulf in Dammam, Saudi Arabia.
At a press conference, the Lumenia Racing Team revealed all the details of the preparation, selection, investment and team that will accompany Salazar to the Arab country, which is made up of Eugenio Arrieta (co-driver), Marco Guerrón (assistance coordinator), Christian Zurita (logistics coordinator), John Álava (marketing) and Hermogenes Barcia (team leader).
“I hope to know how to represent them, I have a great responsibility on my shoulders and I am going to Saudi Arabia with this message that Ecuador can, that there are fast pilots, that there are more non-traditional sports such as rallymotocross”, said Salazar, since he thanked the private company and the Ministry of Sport.
“It’s the toughest race in the world,” he said.
In the record of the Guayaquil pilot there are two first places in 2018 in the Terra Playas Rally (category pit byke) and the Guayas National Championship (rally motocross); first place in the Terra Playas Rally (UTV 1,000 turbo category) and second place in the Terra Playas Rally (UTV 1,000 turbo category) in 2021; and third place in the Terra Playas Rally (1,000) in 2022.
