Manchester United want Portuguese striker João Félix, says Spanish website

To occupy the vacancy left in the team after the departure of Cristiano Ronaldo, the Manchester United want to bring striker João Félix, from Madrid’s athleticsays the Spanish portal Relief. The offer is for a loan until the end of the season, in which the English team, in addition to paying the player’s entire salary, would also pay 4 million euros (over R$ 20 million, at current prices) to the Spaniards.

Atlético de Madrid wants a higher value for the athlete, around 12 million euros (R$ 69 million), which still meant that the deal was not signed. João Félix was not listed by Argentine coach Diego Simeone for the team’s last match, against Olviedo, for the King’s Cup.

The Portuguese arrived at Atlético de Madrid in July 2019, after being signed from Benfica for €126 million (over R$580 million), making him one of the five most profitable transfers in football history. He generated a lot of expectations, largely due to the high amount invested by the Spanish club and also for being one of the main European promises at the time.

On the field, João Félix did not achieve what was expected of him and went through good and bad times for the Spanish club, failing to establish himself and become a technical reference within the team. Altogether there were 130 matches, 34 goals and 18 assists. A change of scenery with a transfer to Manchester United could be ideal to recover the good phase and confidence of the still young player.
