Nottingham Forest beats Southampton in Scarpa’s debut and leaves the English Z3

Nottingham Forest’s newest signing, midfielder Gustavo Scarpa, formerly of Palmeiras, made his debut this Wednesday at English Championship. For the 19th round, the Brazilian’s team visited last-placed Southampton, at St Mary’s Stadium, and won by 1-0. The goal of the game was scored by striker Taiwo Awoniyi.

Thus, Forest leaves the relegation zone in the competition. With the triumph, the club reaches 17 points and jumps from 18th to 15th place on the leaderboard.

On the other hand, the hosts remain in the last position of the national, with 12 points – four less than Bournermouth, first team outside the Z3.

For the next round, therefore, Nottingham Forest receives Leicester City, at 12 pm (Brasília time) on Saturday (14), at the City Ground stadium. At the same time, Southampton visit second place Everton, at Goodison Park stadium.

The only goal of the game was scored in the 27th minute of the first half. After a counter attack, Brennan Johnson passed Taiwo Awoniyi inside the area. The Nigerian then just had to push into the empty net and score for the visitors.

In turn, Gustavo Scarpa, elected the best player of the last Brazilian Championship, started on the bench and entered in the 26th minute of the second half. As Forest was already winning the match, the midfielder had few actions with the ball, as the team was closed holding the result and with a strategy of going out in counterattacks.

Former Palmeiras midfielder fulfills childhood dream

After the end of this afternoon’s confrontation, Gustavo Scarpa published a photo on his Instagram in which he claims to have fulfilled a dream with the victorious debut in the English Premier League.

“At least fifteen years DREAMING with this moment!!! God is too good. Debuting in the Premier League with victory!!”, wrote the former Palmeiras player.
