Granerud flew away. But Kubacki responded in the best possible way

The 4-Hills-Tournament is entering its decisive phase. After three competitions, the clear leader is Halvor Egner Granerud, who has an advantage of 23.3 points over Dawid Kubacki. It will be very difficult for a Pole to make up for this loss. On the other hand, the final podium was clearly separated from Piotr ¯y³a, who dropped out of the TOP3 after the tenth place in Innsbruck and is now 16 points behind Anze Laniska.

TCS. Halvor Egner Granerud wins training in Bischofshofen. Dawid Kubacki was fifth

The training took place in very variable conditions. Some players added tenths of points and others added more than 20 points. The session was won by Halvor Egner Granerud with a jump of 139 meters. Peter Prevc, who is performing on average this season, was brilliant. The winner of the Crystal Ball and the winner of the 4-Hills-Tournament in the 2015/16 season also landed on 139 meters, but he jumped from a higher beam than the leader of the cycle and took 2nd place. Anze Lanisek was third with 134.5 meters. Just behind him was Kamil Stoch, who jumped 132.5 meters. Dawid Kubacki was ex aequo 5th with Manuel Fettner.

Jan Habdas flashed with a very good jump on 128.5 meters, which gave him 23rd place. Pawe³ Wąsek fared slightly worse. The fourth best competitor of our team jumped 122.5 meters and took the 33rd position. Stefan Hula, who barely exceeded 100 meters, presented much worse, despite the fact that he had much better conditions than Habdas or Wąsk. The 36-year-old jumped 106 meters and was ranked 58th. Piotr Żyła failed, jumping 123.5 m and taking 34th place, just behind Paweł Wąski.

TCS. Kubacki won with Granerud in training. Just before the jump of the Norwegian, the beam was reduced

In the second training session, Dawid Kubacki turned out to be the best, jumping 134.5 m and beating Halvor Egner Granerud by four points. It is worth noting that the Norwegian jumped 133 m and the beam before his jump was additionally lowered (from 12 to 10). Slovenian Anze Lanisek was third. Kamil Stoch maintained his good form and after jumping on 131 m he took seventh place. It is true that Piotr Żyła recorded a slight improvement in terms of distance (124 m), but it was not enough to finish the training in the top ten – he ended up 15th.

The jumps in the whole second training session were mainly made from the twelfth starting bar (except for the aforementioned Graneruda jump). This part of the training was worse for Jan Habdas, who after a jump of 118 m took 45th place. The same distance was recorded by Stefan Hula, but due to less compensation for the wind he was four places lower. Paweł Wąsek jumped similarly as in the first training session – he reached 117 m and took the 33rd position.
