The Portuguese Bernardo Silva, midfielder of the manchester city, has not ruled out leaving the English club at the end of the European season. The 28-year-old athlete is one of the greatest desires of coach Xavi, from Barcelona, ​​and dreams of returning to Benfica, the club that revealed him.

In an interview given to the Portuguese newspaper record, Bernardo left the door open for a possible departure from City after six seasons. The player has a contract until 2025 with the current English champions.

“My objective in recent years, if something good happens elsewhere, will probably be to move to a new project”, declared Bernardo Silva.

The Portuguese also did not hide his love for Benfica and says he considers a return to the team in the future.

“I want to return to Benfica to help and I have to feel prepared”, revealed the athlete. “If it’s to hang up my boots, I’d rather not go. My dream is not to play for the best club in the world, it’s to play for Benfica. I didn’t know what level I was going to reach.”

Although he highlighted Benfica, Bernardo Silva was not limited to the Portuguese club. “If you ask me what I thought ten years ago, my goal was to return to Benfica at the age of 32 at the most”, revealed the midfielder. “What do I think today? It depends on what happens next summer. Not going to lie, it’s something I think about every year. It has always been a goal. I couldn’t fulfill my dream of playing for Benfica at 19, 20 years old, but I still want to do it”.
