Ovechkin called a special puck thrown in January 2006 against the Phoenix Coyotes
The Russian captain of the club of the National Hockey League (NHL) “Washington Capitals” Alexander Ovechkin called the best goal in his career. His words are quoted by The Athletic.
The hockey player said that this was the puck for him, thrown in January 2006 at the gates of the Phoenix Coyotes from a prone position. “I did not know then that he would become so famous – and could not imagine. But now, when I look at this goal, I understand that it was a special moment, ”he said.
Ovechkin’s goal against the Coyotes in 2006 was named the best in NHL history by ESPN magazine. The forward threw the puck in the fall from an acute angle. That meeting ended with the victory of “Washington” with a score of 6:1.
Ovechkin has been with Washington since 2005. In 2018, the Russian led the Capitals to the club’s first ever Stanley Cup victory. The hockey player is ranked third among the best snipers in the league of all time.
