Manchester United held their first match for the English Championship after the break for the World Cup. This Tuesday, the team beat Nottingham Forest 3-0 with a goal by Brazilian Fred, at Old Trafford, and touched down in the access zone to the next Champions League.
With the result, the team led by Erik Ten Hag now has 29 points and remains in fifth place. However, the distance to Tottenham, the first team within the G4, is only one point. Forest, on the other hand, continues to stagger in the vice-lantern, with 13 added.
For the next round of the Premier League, Manchester United will face Wolverhampton, away from home, at 9:30 am (Brasília time) this Saturday. Meanwhile, Nottingham Forest will face Chelsea at home at 13:30 on Sunday.
For the match, Forest still couldn’t count on midfielder Gustavo Scarpa, ex-Palmeiras, who already belongs to the club. The athlete will only be able to make his debut in the Premier League when the transfer window opens in England.
The goals of the match
The first goal of the match came in the 19th minute of the first half. In a beautiful rehearsed move, Eriksen took a low corner on the right and Rashford came up behind the defense to finish first. The beat was perfect and left the goalkeeper unresponsive.
United’s dominance continued and, in the 22nd minute, the team managed to extend the scoring. This time, after a great counter-attack move from the defense field, the ball was left at the feet of Martial, who took a risk from outside the area. The goalkeeper failed in the bid and could not avoid it.
Nottingham Forest even managed to send one inside in the first half. Renan Lodi took a free-kick into the penalty area, Yates headed it in and the ball deflected off Boly’s foot before swinging the string. However, after analysis by VAR, the bid was canceled for offside.
In the second half, the rhythm of the game dropped, but Manchester United remained superior. Thus, at the 41st minute of the game, Casemiro stole the ball in the attacking field and found an excellent pass for Fred, opened by the left, to finish in the corner and run to the embrace.
