Messi and Mbappe named to L’Équipe World Cup squad

L’Équipe has named the symbolic team of the World Cup in Qatar. The list of players is presented on the publication’s website.

Among the best strikers included the Argentinean Lionel Messi, as well as the Frenchman Kylian Mbappe and Bukayo Saka, representing the England national team. Among the midfielders, Croat Luka Modric, Moroccan Sofian Amrabat and Argentinean Enzo Fernandez were singled out. Defenders included Moroccan team players Ashrafu Hakimi and Romain Saiss, Croat Joshko Guardiol and Marcos Akuña, who plays for Argentina. Croatian football player Dominik Livakovic became the goalkeeper of the symbolic team.

In the penalty shootout, Argentina turned out to be stronger – 4: 2. Bronze medals were won by the Croats who beat the Moroccans.

The International Football Federation recognized Messi as the best player of the tournament. Mbappé was the top scorer with eight goals in seven matches.
