Arsenal at the tip

Arsenal have been at the top of the table since the start of the season. The team stayed in second place for the first two rounds, until they took the lead in the third match and did not fall further. With just one defeat in 14 games, the Gunners have an eight-game unbeaten record and, with that, have 37 points, five more than second-placed Manchester City.

The team commanded by Mikel Arteta lost an important piece in the World Cup. Brazilian Gabriel Jesus suffered a knee injury and will be sidelined for a few months. The stop for the World Cup could also influence the good phase of some athletes who were not in the tournament, like the Norwegian midfielder Martin Odegaard. On the other hand, other players, like striker Saka, had a good competition in Qatar and could come back even more inspired.

Manchester City in search of leadership

Manchester City is second with 32 points. Pep Guardiola’s team stumbled in the last round and let Arsenal get away. The team bets on the good phases of its players to reach the lead.

Striker Erling Haaland put in an incredible performance at the start of the Premier League and scored 18 goals in the 13 matches he played. Kevin De Bruyne, in turn, shone in the Citizens’ victory against Liverpool, for the round of 16 of the English League Cup, last Thursday.

Tottenham and Manchester United fight for the G4

Despite the distance to the leader not being so small, the fight for the G4 is fierce. Tottenham are fourth with 29 points, followed immediately by Manchester United with 26.

The north London side have lost three of their last five matches and are in danger of dropping out of the Champions League on Monday. The Red Devils lost in the first rounds and went through controversies with Cristiano Ronaldo, who left the club, but is recovering and should fight for the highest places in the table.

Liverpool and Chelsea below expectations

The Anfield team lost against teams from the bottom half of the table and is looking for an immediate recovery so as not to abandon the fight for the title. Liverpool are in sixth place, with 22 points, and have some important casualties. Firmino did not play in the last match after being injured during training and Diogo Jota is sidelined after suffering a serious knee injury.

Chelsea are the Premier League’s biggest disappointment to date. With 21 points, the team is in eighth place and has not won for five games. Depending on Monday’s results, Londoners could finish the round in the bottom half of the table.
