Manchester United confirm renewals of Fred, Rashford, Dalot and Shaw

O Manchester United confirmed, this Saturday, through coach Erik ten Hag, the contractual renewals of Fred, Marcus Rashford, Diogo Dalot and Luke Shaw. With the extensions, the four players will have links with the club until June 2024.

“We are happy because the squad is moving in the right direction and these players have a massive contribution in that direction. We want to develop them and keep them in our process”, began the coach in an interview with the club’s official portal.

“That’s why we made these decisions, I’m sure they are correct. We want to build a team for the future, for many years to come, and these athletes need to be part of it”, added the Dutch captain.

You Red Devils also reported that the four players mentioned had a clause in their contracts regarding renewal. All of them were previously linked only until the end of the current season, that is, June 2023. With that, if the trigger was not activated, they could sign a pre-contract with any other club as of January.

Midfielder Fred, signed in 2018, has experienced moments of greater prominence in the English team. This season, the Brazilian played 21 games, only seven in the starting line-up, and scored one goal.

Rashford, on the other hand, resumed, in a way, the good phase and was absolute holder of ten Hag’s team in 2022. So far, the English striker has played 20 games, scored nine goals, provided three assists and is United’s top scorer. Anthony Martial, second on the list, scored just four goals.

Dalot and Shaw are Manchester’s first-choice full-backs and are important parts of the team. The Portuguese defender, who plays on the right, has entered the field 24 times this season. The English athlete, who plays on the other side, played one game less.

Manchester United returns to the lawns on Tuesday at 5 pm (Brasília time), when they face Nottingham Forest at home. The match at Old Trafford is valid for the 17th round of the English Championship🇧🇷
