Ufa striker Hamid Agalarov became the player of the month in the Russian Premier League (RPL). This was reported on the tournament website.
The winner was selected together with the Match Premier TV channel and the fans. In the voting, Agalarov bypassed the players of the St. Petersburg Zenit Yaroslav Rakitskiy and Claudinho, the Sochi striker Mateo Cassierra and the CSKA striker Chidera Edzhuke. The Ufa footballer leads the RPL scorers’ race, scoring 11 goals.
Initially, Agalarov was included in the expanded list of players called up to the Russian national team for the November matches of the qualifying tournament for the 2022 World Cup, but was left without an invitation to the final squad. The head coach of the team, Valeriy Karpin, explained his decision by the fact that in the matches with Cyprus and Croatia he will rely on more experienced players.
The final roster of the Russian national team was announced earlier on Monday, November 1. Karpin called 29 players. The Russians will play at home with Cyprus on November 11. In three days, the away team will meet with Croatia.
