Santiago Montenegro (Movistar-Best PC) was the best of the nationals in the general classification after maintaining in the tenth stage the third place in the general classification. The man from Sucumbis took the podium with the local Mardoqueo Vásquez (Hino-One-La Red) and the Colombian Jahir Pérez (Cerámica Castelli-ASO Quetzaltenango), first and second, respectively.

Montenegro scored a time of 35 hours 3 minutes 21 seconds6 minutes 16 seconds behind Vásquez, while Steven Haro (Banco Guayaquil-Ecuador) did one second more than his compatriot to place in fourth place in the race.
With Haro, national cycling also achieved the podium in the mountain classification, being the best climber after a sum of 84 points, ahead of Vásquez (59) and Pérez (39). In this classification, Montenegro ranked fifth with 35 units, also among the top 10 was the Ecuadorian Pablo Caicedo, in eighth box.
To the podiums of Montenegro and Haro, the country’s continental teams also added victories in three stages, the technological ones won the seventh fraction with Montenegrowhile the banking team was left with the victories in the first and fifth stages in charge of the Colombian Robinson Chalapud.
On the part of Movistar, the performance of its coffee reinforcement also stands out Paulo Pantoja, second in the general classification of the sub-23.

With this race, the cyclists from Movistar-Best PC and Banco Guayaquil Ecuador closed their preparation for the 39th edition of the return to equator which begins on November 12, with the two squads as the main options for the title of this 2022. (D)
