Russian gymnast Melnikova spoke about daily fear

Russian gymnast Angelina Melnikova in an interview with the correspondent of “Lenta.ru” spoke about the fear that she constantly experiences.

According to the athlete, training is scary every day. “Firstly, we perform very difficult elements, and secondly, gymnastics is such a traumatic sport that we simply do not know when something will happen. Therefore, when I go to a complex element, there are always all thoughts in my head that you need to be careful. Scary all the time! ” – noted Melnikova.

She also talked about the most difficult apparatus in gymnastics. “We consider the log to be the lightest projectile. Yes, they often fall from it, but it is very simple. But the uneven bars you will not train them in any way if you will not train them accurately. I do not know how to explain it. If, for example, on a balance beam you can just walk and work on coordination, you may not do it for a long time, but in the end everything will work out. It won’t work on the uneven bars. Well, freestyle is very difficult, physically and functionally it is just crazy, ”the athlete explained.

Melnikova is the silver medalist of the 2016 Olympics in the team all-around, the 2020 Olympic champion in the same program, as well as the owner of the bronze medal in the individual championship and in floor exercise. At the October 2021 World Championship, the Russian woman became the absolute champion.
