Figure skater Mai Mihara earns $61,000 after leading the Grand Prix
Japanese figure skater Mai Mihara earned the most in 2022, when the Russians were suspended from participation in international tournaments. It is reported by KP.RU..
The 23-year-old athlete is the leader in the world ranking of figure skaters in terms of prize money at the Grand Prix stages. She earned $61,000: $36,000 for two Grand Prix victories and $25,000 for winning the tournament final. In second place is American Isabeau Levito with 44,000, and Belgian Luna Hendrix is in third with 43,000.
On December 7, KP.RU reported that Kamila Valieva became the richest figure skater in Russia in the 2022/2023 season. The 16-year-old athlete won two victories at the stages of the Russian Grand Prix, won a personal and took second place in the team tournament of the national jumping championship. Thus, she earned 2.375 million rubles.
On June 7, the International Skating Union at the organization’s congress decided to extend the suspension of Russian athletes from competitions under its auspices. Domestic figure skaters were banned from participating in the international Grand Prix series.
