Vinícius Júnior regrets his absence from the Selection: “I have to work harder”

Vinícius Júnior continues to live a great phase at Real Madrid. This Wednesday, the Brazilian gave two assists to Benzema in a 2-1 victory over Shakhtar Donetsk, in the fourth round of the Champions League group stage. This season, the 21-year-old has already scored nine goals and served his teammates five times in 15 games for the merengue club.

Despite the good moment, Vinícius was left out of the last list of summoned by coach Tite for the Brazilian team. In an interview with Tnt Sports, the striker regretted the absence, but reinforced his focus on new good performances to be able to wear the five-time world champion jersey again.

“We get sad, we always want to be among the best in the national team. Tite, who is a great coach, makes his choices and chose to stay at home at this time. I believe I have to work harder, play better games. Even though I’m doing well, I know that Brazil is very difficult, they have a lot of players,” he said.

“Respecting everyone, I want to be there, I want to play, to be more important in the club and in the national team. I know that the right moment will come. The national team is always well served by great players. I hope to play well this month, as in January I already have another summons,” he completed.

The Real Madrid shirt 20 was not called up to represent the Brazilian team against Colombia, on the 11th, and Argentina, on the 16th, for the South American Qualifiers, but he still dreams of playing in the 2022 World Cup, in Qatar.

“My dream is to play the World Cup with Brazil, to be among the best. Playing for the Seleção is an immense pleasure,” he said.

Vini Jr. also spoke about the partnership with Karim Benzema. The duo is Real Madrid’s main highlight of the season so far. With the goals scored against Shakhtar, the Frenchman reached 13 goals and eight assists in 14 matches for the Spanish team.

“Karim is an amazing player, he makes things look easy. He always gives me advice and says what’s best for me. He’s a player who lacks words. Helping with assists is very important to me. I’m a side player, no I will score so many goals. At some point I will not score as many goals as I am doing now. Giving the balls to Karim is important to me,” he said.

Finally, Vinícius Júnior commented on the current good moment, the best in his career so far.

“I’m very good. Confidence is everything, from the coach, the staff, the players and the fans. It’s all in my favor, and it’s important to me. I want to continue in this moment, I want to help not only now, but until the end of the season “he concluded.
