Ankalaev took on Jan Blachowicz of Poland in the main event of UFC 282 in Las Vegas. The meeting ended in a draw. Thus, the promotion’s light heavyweight championship belt remains vacant.
Originally, Czech Jiri Prochazka, who held the belt in this weight category, and Brazilian Glover Teixeira, were supposed to meet in this fight, but Prochazka pulled out of the fight due to a shoulder injury. It is specified that he will need about a year to recover.
